Pelican 1485Air vs SKB iSeries: Hard Case Comparison

Quick Answer

Choose the Pelican 1485Air if lightweight travel is your priority. Pick the SKB iSeries 1510 if you want a versatile interior with dedicated dividers and a lid organizer.

Tradeoffs at a Glance

• Pelican 1485Air: Lightweight Travel: Weighs less, making it easier to carry and better for flights with strict weight limits. The Pick-N-Pluck foam lets you customize the interior, but it's permanent once pulled.
• SKB iSeries 1510: Versatile Interior: Heavier but offers reusable foam dividers and a lid organizer. The interior can be reconfigured as your gear changes, and the lid organizer keeps small items accessible.
• Pelican 1485Air: Orange Color: The bright orange shell makes the case easy to spot on a baggage carousel or in a crowded gear room, but it may draw more attention in some environments.

Product Facts

• SKB iSeries 1510-9 Waterproof Utility Case with Foam Dividers and Lid Organizer (Black): SKB teamed up with Think Tank Photo to design quality interiors that combine soft case adaptability with the strength of a watertight, airline-tough case. You get customizable foam dividers and a lid organizer, making it easier to store and access camera bodies, lenses, and accessories without custom foam cutting.

• Pelican 1485Air Compact Hand-Carry Case (Orange, Pick-N-Pluck Foam): The orange Pelican 1485Air is watertight, crushproof, dustproof, and optimized for travel by conforming to aggregated airline overhead and check-in dimensions. It's lighter than many hard cases, so you can pack more gear without exceeding airline weight limits, and the orange color improves visibility.
