Tiffen Black Pro-Mist Filter (62mm, Grade 1/8)

I’ve been using this 1/8 grade filter for a few weeks now on my walkaround lens, and the way it tames harsh highlights without killing sharpness is exactly what I wanted. It gives skin a nice, natural-looking texture in video without that plastic-y digital feel.

I was worried a filter would soften things too much, but the 1/8 grade keeps all the sharpness while just taking that digital edge off. Screwed right onto my 62mm lens with no issues, and the reduced contrast gave my outdoor shots that subtle filmic glow I was after.

The 1/8 grade is perfect for portraits—it takes the edge off skin tones without making anything look soft or dreamy. I noticed the contrast drops just enough to give the footage that filmic glow, and it screws on smoothly with no play.
